Inside the name

What is Qalb e Mast?

Qalb e Mast is a reflective space for Sufi Kalam, spiritual poetry, devotional listening and thoughtful reading. Its name evokes an inward heart absorbed in love and remembrance.

Qalb · قَلب

The heart

In Islamic spiritual language, qalb refers to the inward heart: the seat of intention, awareness and transformation. It is often described as something that can turn, soften, become heedless and return to remembrance.

On this website, the heart is a theme for reflection rather than a claim that spiritual growth follows one fixed formula.

Mast · مست

Absorbed in love.

Mast can describe an absorbed, ecstatic or carefree state in Persianate and South Asian poetic language. In Sufi expression, it may point to being deeply moved by love of the Divine.

“The Ecstatic Heart” is a poetic rendering of the name, not a formal translation with only one possible meaning.

Founder & Creator, Qalb e Mast

Faisal Rehman Ansari created Qalb e Mast as a space for spiritual preservation, artistic storytelling and reflection. The purpose behind the project is to share the enduring beauty of Sufi Kalam and Urdu and Punjabi spiritual poetry, while presenting ideas such as remembrance, humility, patience and inner attention in an accessible way.

At its heart, Qalb e Mast is intended to feel like a calm digital home: a place where poetry can be heard with care, words can be read in context, and visitors can pause amid the noise of everyday life.
